Screenplay for a Dance Film - First Draft

SCENE I - THE FAIRY’S DANCE (2 minutes)
A girl in a pink silk dress (The Fairy) is doing an energetic, self-confident dance to some noisy, clashy and heroic music in the forest in the soft morning light. She catches glimpses of a black shadow ahead of her and starts to get uneasy and the music slows down with her movements also starting to look furtive and hesitant.
SCENE II - THE DRAGON’S DANCE (2 minutes)
A girl with a black mask (The Dragon) is doing a slow dance to some very peaceful music, waving her flowy smoke shawl in the air. Whenever she turns back, she catches a glimpse of something pink and moving. She starts getting angry as does the music. Her dance starts looking like the Tasmanian Monster.
SCENE III - THE PURSUIT (2 minutes)
The dragon angrily dashes forward and the scared fairy starts running behind it. We see the Dragon’s Run, and then the Fairy’s Run. At some point during the pursuit, while passing through the dense growth of young hazelnut trees, the fairy stops, absentmindedly looks at the camera, and says “I’m being run before by a black dragon” and she continues to follow her. Next to the tree “grand chêne Mademoiselle”, the dragon stops and confusedly looks at the camera, and says “I’m being run after by a pink fairy”. After some angry grunts and frustrated gestures, she continues running.
SCENE IV - THE ENCOUNTER (1 minute)
Suddenly they come face to face in the kiosk. They are flabbergasted.
The dragon says “I am the bad black dragon of your nightmares. Let me give you some good advice: Don’t be yourself. Never. Ever. Be. Yourselfffff!“
The fairy replies as she calmly starts taking off her dress,
“OK, I’ll be you and you’ll be me.”
SCENE V - THE MERGE (2 minutes)
Rain pours down. The dragon removes its mask and hands it to the fairy. The dragon smiles, the fairy sheds some tears. A red silk sheet falls from the sky on top of the girls. Two people dance agitatedly under this sheet making big waves as they approach each other. They merge in a flash of light.
SCENE VI - THE NEWNESS (2 minutes)
We see a handsome old gender-bender (The Newness), nearly naked with purple feathers and white-painted nails emerging from under the red sheet. The pink dress and the black mask emerge on the forest ground soiled and disappearing among the composting leaves as the red veil is pulled off by the Newness, who wraps it around and slowly dances away towards the sunset over reaped fields.
